Abstract

This research is built upon my knowledge and experience of study at the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI). The research uses the basic theory of aircraft design procedures. Research is divided into sub-research topics. Each topic of the research took about 1 to 2 years. The first research is a concept design. Aerodynamic calculations using both CFD programs and wind tunnel KU-1 for finding a suitable shape with high aerodynamic efficiency. The second research is on material sciences with structural design using a composite material. It is the carbon fiber epoxy, using a pressure autoclave by designing a lattice of ISO grid, and Ortho grid. The fiber has a unique style, light weight, and strength. The sample is subjected to a mechanical test to verify if the hypothesis is correct. The fiber will be used as a structural basis for the structure of the load-bearing plates of the two-seater WIG craft type C aircraft. This section has been developed for at least 3 to 4 years which, due to many factors, have not been going according to the plan. Additionally, after a two-year delay due to the Covid-19 situation, the work has not satisfactorily progressed. Under this new normal situation imposed by COVID-19 situation, everyone works at home. Both teachers and students are currently researching on the structure of the real wing size. If we do not have knowledge base that has been studied directly from the Aircraft Design Institute, it will take more time and experience to reach the heart of aircraft design. For example, the aircraft structural design must have the heart of the core principles regarding the transfer of dissipated forces from the aircraft’s surface to the load-bearing structures that serve their specific purposes. The heart of the core principles of the aerodynamic shape design is to try to keep the airflow without turbulence caused by shape, and to know the center of pressure in order to achieve a stable flight. In order to obtain accurate and complete data, this research has been carried out as planned, with some additional wind tunnel experiments to be done.
