Summary on Thai-Russia Education Roundtable

1. Preface
           Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the Princess Debaratanarajasuda has interested in the development of teaching and learning, curriculum and the evaluation particularly the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Science in Thailand for a long time. During HRH’s visit to Russia on September 30 to October 8, 2017, HRH had visited many leading Russian Universities and Schools as well as Vocational Colleges and other Science Centers which its students have performed well and made progress on science and technology. From that visit, HRH has intention that Thailand shall learn knowledge and exchange experiences from Russia in order to develop the country. HRH have also pay special interest in the education provision of gifted student which Russia has a very renowned center called “SIRIUS Education Center”. This center is the incubation center for gifted student in Russia. The center has mission to select, develop and support gifted student aged between 10 to 17 years old in three field; arts, sport and science. In addition, Thai government has issued policy on the support and integration of Thai gifted student in every field of interest.
          Office of the Education Council saw the important of the gifted student education which is consistent with the intention of HRH princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and the Policy of Thai Government, for this reason, the office has organized the working group on Thai – Russia Education Roundtable chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khunying Sumonta Promboon. The working group consisting of 23 members including 14 experts from leading science and technology institutions and Office of the Education Council acting as its secretariat.

2. Activities
            2.1 The 1st Thai-Russia Education Roundtable held at Kamnoetvidya Science Academy (KVIS) and Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) Rayong Province, Thailand on August 18 – 19, 2018. Participants from both countries had presented overall information on gifted student education. Concrete achievement from the first meeting is the making of cooperation between education institutes on both side as follows;
                  1. The Cooperation between Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) and The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech)
                  2. The Cooperation between National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and Skoltech
                  3. The Cooperation between National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and St. Petersburg State University on the promotion of science and technology entrepreneur
                  4. The Cooperation between Mahidol Wittayanusorn School and Kolmogorov’s boarding school
           2.2 The 2nd Russia-Thai Education Roundtable held at Moscow State Institute of Foreign Relations and Skolsovo Institute of Science and Technology, Moscow, Russia on October 22 – 23, 2019. Participants from both sides had presented progresses of its cooperation which is the result from the 1st Education Roundtable and also the making of new research cooperation on gifted student who has an expertise in science, mathematics and music. Delegation from both sides agreed on the principle for the making of agreement on Institutional Link as follows;

3. Achievements from the Education Roundtable
         
Thai-Russia Education Roundtable has created many beneficial cooperation for Thai and Russia education institutions as follows;
          3.1 National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) and SIRIUS, Foundation for the Talented
                 - Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) had presented HRH Princess Maha Chakir Sirindhorn 3 scholarships for qualified master degree student for three consecutive years. The scholarship given in two fields (1) Energy and Materials Science and (2) Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing (this scholarship start giving on 2019 under the name “H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand Scholarship”)
          3.2 Suranaree University of Technology and Novosibirsk State University (NSU)
                - Suranaree University of Technology held an international conference on the theme “Modern Treatment of Symmetries, Differential Equations and Applications (Symmetry 2019)” on January 14 – 18, 2019 at its campus, during this conference there was an initiation to create the Memorandum of Understanding between Suranaree University of Technology and Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow and Larentyev Institute of Hydrodynamics of the Russian Academy of Science, Novosibirsk
               - Between September 9 – 12, 2019, the delegation from Suranaree University of Technology had visited Novosibirsk State University (NSU) in order to consult the academic cooperation between  Suranaree University of Technology and NSU and also its 15 alliance universities. Also during this visit, the negotiation for the development of research and student exchange for the development of teaching and learning had been agreed.                   3.3 Mahidol Wittayanusorn School and Advanced Education and Science Centre (AESC) of Moscow State University  
               - Students from Mahidol Wittayanusorn School had presented  their research at Kolmogorov Readings Exhibition on May 2018
               - Professor Dr.Vladimir Dubrovsky from Advanced Education and Science Centre (AESC) of Moscow State University had paid a visit to Mahidol Wittayanusorn School on January 7 - 12, 2019 to attend the Thailand International Science Fair 2019 (TISF 2019). During this visit, Professor Dubrovsky had also attended the student oral presentation and help the school on teaching technique and perform classroom teaching in some classes such as mathematics.
          3.4 Kamnoetvidya Science Academy and Saint Petersburg Academic University Physical – Technical High School (PTHS) and Advanced Education and Science Centre (AESC) of Moscow State University
               - On May 2018, student from Kamnoetvidya Science Academy had participated and presented their research during Kolmogorov Readings Exhibition and On March 11 - 22, 2019, student from Kamnoetvidya Science Academy had done co-research and presentation with student from Kolmogorov Boarding School of Moscow State University
               - On August 20 – 24, 2018, student from Kamnoetvidya Science Academy had attended International Chemistry Tournament at Moscow University
               - On December 5 – 10, 2018, students and teachers from Saint Petersburg Academic University Physical – Technical High School (PTHS) and Advanced Education and Science Centre (AESC) of Moscow State University had attended the 7th Asia – Pacific Conference of Young Scientists (APCYS 2018) – 2nd KVIS Invitational Science Fair
               - Co-research on Biologial and Chemistry has been conducted between Kamnoetvidya Science Academy and Advanced Education and Science Centre (AESC) of Moscow State University
               - Moscow State University had sent its experts to co-work with teacher and student of Kamnoetvidya Science Academy on the issue of satellite station
               - School which attended International Chemistry Tournament at Moscow State University won silver medal in 2018 and bronze medal in 2019  
               - On 2019, students from Gymnasium Boarding School No. 13 for Gifted Girls had co-worked with students of Kamnoetvidya Science Academy on the research of Pollen Analysis and also attended other academic activities
